KEI:

“Keyword Effectiveness Indicator” is a number that shows the global demands for your keyword against the number of webpages that include it. It will give an idea of how important a specific keyword is. The higher it is, the better. A high KEI shows that there is not remarkable competition over that particular keyword. So, there should be more chance to get to the top of SERP.

Keyphrase:

It’s a group of words that form a key string internet searchers key in the search box while looking for specific information, product, service, etc. A good SEO practice discovers them, uses them at the website copy and the incoming links to increasing the search engine rankings of a site/blog.

Keyword:

Basically, keyphrase (above) originates from this word in the world of search engine optimization. Instead of a string of words (keyphrase), it consists of one single word that people look for and you should discover and optimize your site/blog for it.

Keyword Density:

This is the ratio of the keywords or keyphrases used at a web copy compared the entire number of the words used there no matter what type of a web content we refer to. It can be a blog post, an article, a webpage copy, etc.If you don’t use an SEO software, you will have to go through lots of hassle to make sure you’re within the allowed zone for each search engine.

Keyword Frequency:

This indicated how often a keyword has appeared in a webpage. In general, a page’s keyword frequency should be more than a couple of times, but within an industry-defined range set by search engines. If it exceeds a certain number of times compared to the number of the entire words at the same page, chances are the page gets penalized for spamming. A good SEO software can help you on that.

Keyword Prominence:

In general, the keyword at title tags, alt tags, headings, lead paragraphs, page copies, etc are supposed to be close to the beginning of their area where they are appeared at. The words closer to the start of any of the areas mentioned here will be considered more prominent. So, keywords should be at prominent positions.

Keyword Proximity:

When a key phrase is used, it will be a set string of words with their specific order. If any words come in between, the keyword proximity will be violated. So, keyphrases should not be disrupted.

Keyword Spamming:

As the word implies, it refers to use illegitimate practices to exaggerate the importance of your keywords. This is usually done by overusing them in body text and source code (meta data and meta tags). The result will be spamming search engines and drop in your site’s position.

Keyword Stuffing:

This process, like keyword spamming, mean overusing certain words and phrases that is done at the webpages to fool search engines. As a result, your web content will not be appealing to human readers. Search engines will punish you for that as well. Long time ago, when search engines were not equipped enough to discover this method, spammers used to use it. Today, you cannot escape the penalty.

Keyword Weight:

It refers to the number of time a certain keyword or keyphrase is used in a webpage. Although the more it is used, the higher the importance of it will be revealed to search engines, you should consider the consequences of overusing them. You will be regarded as a spammer, whom will not be liked by search engines.

Keywords Meta Tags:

An HTML meta tag that used to have a lot of importance for gaining higher search engine rankings, but it has lost its importance among some major search engines like Google. Webmasters used to include the highly important words and phrases of that page in keywords meta tags. Spammers used to stuff this meta tag with lots of words some of which were never used at that page either.

Landing Page:

It refers to an active page on your site, not necessarily your homepage, where internet users will land at when they click on a link. the best SEO practice will be the one that has got what the link promises, meaning keywords, content, etc. Optimization of landing pages should be conducted before link building or any online/offline marketing campaign that promotes that particular page.

Lead:

It is a typical most wanted response that some refer to as potential customer’s contact detail. With some follow-up, Internet marketers will convert them to their customers.

Link:

It can be text or image that connects to a webpage. They are very important elements in increasing a site’s ranking in search engines, specially if they are of certain features like from high page rank sites, authority site, relevant sites, etc. There are different types of links like inbound links, outbound links, internal links, affiliate links, etc.

Link Building:

It usually refers to the series of efforts to gain several quality backlinks from other sites to yours in order to increase the popularity of your site. To achieve this, experts use various methods like link exchanging (reciprocal linking), one-way linking, article marketing, press release marketing, social media bookmarking, social  media marketing, etc.

Link Exchange:

This is a process in which two, three, etc parties agree on exchanging links with each other to help each other with traffic, ranking, visibility, etc. In this link building scheme, links are not one-way as you have to give away link in order to get links. For this reason, some SEO experts don’t recommend or practice it anymore.

Linking Structure:

It generally refers to the links you make inside your site/blog, from one page from one to another using particular keywords in order to show the importance of some keywords or keyphrases. A search engine friendly site/blog has got a powerful linking structure.

Link Farm:

It’s a webpage some webmasters or so-called link building practitioners build to include a long list of unrelated links. It used to work for the rankings of sites long time ago, but not anymore. Posting a link to such pages/sites will bring about punishment. Some people call these sites “Free for All” (FFA).

Link Popularity:

It refers to the quality and quantity of the links other sites point at yours. The higher it is, the better ranking search engines will assign to your site. This must be the very important part of your search engine optimization efforts.

Log File:

It’s a file maintained on a server to contain the details of all file accesses and restore them. This file is very important for the web analyzers who assess the interaction of the site/blog with its users.

Meta Data:

It’s a series of various HTML data are inserted in the Head tag of a page’s source code. The result can be seen and experienced by both human visitors and search engines. Some of them are “meta description”, “meta keywords”, etc.

Meta Description:

It’s an HTML tag that is often used by many search engines including Google to explain the title tag above it in SERPs. So, when your page shows up in the the result pages, it can be there. It describes what a page is about in short.

Meta Keywords:

It’s another HTML tag that is supposed to list the most important words and phrases used at a given webpage. As many have abused it, major search engines incliding Google will not consider it anymore although some believe that it’s good practice to include it reasonably for the sake of other search engines.

Meta Robots:

This HTML tag tells search engines if this page should be indexed and its links followed or not. Some prefer to add a robots.txt file to the root directory of the domain instead.

Meta Refresh:

This is another HTML tag that is used to refresh the webpage after a specified number of seconds or redirect visitors to another site or page.

Meta Search Engine:

It’s a search engine that compiles its results from many different search engines and returns them in a combined manner in its listing.

Mirror Site:

It’s a site set up to back up a popular site if it comes across any problems or heavy traffic load.
