Daily World Searches:

This is an estimated number of times a certain keyword may be  searched at a particular search engine. Such number changes from time to time as search queries may well vary from time to time due to the news, needs, etc.

Dead Link:

This is a term that refers to a link that leads to a page that doesn’t exist. It could be a mistake in typing the URL, a page that has been removed, or even the search has returned an error because of the down server. This reduces the overall SEO score of a site if continues to stay dead and not fixed.

Deep Linking:

It means linking to the pages that are one or two levels deeper than the home directory. It’s highly advised to practice deep linking as it helps deeper pages to get higher page rank and indexed more quickly.

Deep Pages:

They are the pages that take four or more clicks to get to from the homepage of a site/blog. This will make it difficult for the site visitors to find them. Also, search engine optimization best practices don’t recommend to have deep pages at a site/blog. If important information are expected to appear on the pages that are closer to the homepage.

Directory:

It’s a site that has compiled sites after having them reviewed by human editors. Such long list of sites are organized according to categories and topics in a useful way. The acceptance of submitted sites to directories are due to the compliance to the rules set by that directories. Open Directory (DMOZ) and Yahoo are two known examples of directories on the Internet.

DMOZ:

It’s one of the largest web directories (Directory Mozilla) called Open Directory.

Domain Name:

It’s a unique name that identifies a site/blog. Before starting a site/blog, it must have a web address to be found on the web. A domain name will be such address. It usually ends in .com, .org, .net, etc. Sometimes, regional or functional suffixes like .edu, .gov, etc are used at the end of a domain name.

Doorway Page:

It refers to a page that is particularly built for a specific search engine for better ranking. This is a practice that should be avoided as search engines have warned against using it, because natural search engine optimization practice is always promoting practices that make surfing experience of your site more helpful and convenient for human visitors, not playing tricks on search engines to rank better.

Download Time:

It’s the time period during which certain file(s) are retrieved to be sent on the internet. If a page consists of several big files that make it time-consuming to load, your download time increases. So, you may lose the visitors who are connected to the Internet at low speed like via dial-up connection.

Duplicate Content:

When more than a page have considerably the same textual content on the same site/blog, it’s said to be duplicate content. As every page should have its unique content, search engines will reduce the ranking of a webpage having duplicate content.

External Links:

They are the links that lead site visitors and search engines to other sites/blogs. Including several external links, specially from the same page where the ratio of links to ordinary textual content is high isn’t recommended by search engines.

FFA (Free For All):

It refers to the links pages where the textual content doesn’t exist, or is very minimal. Instead, there’s a long list of links to the other sites without explaining anything about those sites. When the number of those links exceed a certain number, which is varied according to different search engines, a link submitted earlier may be pushed down to the next page or eliminated. This isn’t a good SEO practice to submit your site to FFA link pages.
