What Do You Write at Your Contact Pages?

Posted on 02 November 2009

Do you have a contact page at all? Weird question? Is it? I explain why I ask this:

Some Sites Don’t Have a Contact Page!

Everyday, from morning to evening, 1000s of people are talking about “Content Is King”, etc. Yes, web content is a very important element helping your search engine rankings, but they should be present everywhere including at contact pages.

Some sites/blogs include a link that says, “Contact Us” and you click on it, and … you don’t see a new page to see any web content! What you get is either redirection to your web-based email service, outlook express, etc! What? Yes, this is one of the surprises many of us have been presented with!

Some other sites have done something else: you click on the “Contact Us” link and a new window pops up in which there’s a form at which you can fill in the blank boxes and communicate.

The last group don’t have a contact page. Do you believe it?! Yes, I’ve seen lots of such sites. Maybe they don’t want anybody to contact them for anything. What about you?

Some Sites Think They Have a Contact Page!

Well, when they have a contact page, they have it then. Why should I put it this way? Because it’s only a page with a contact form in it. You may ask, “Isn’t that enough?” You may think it’s right to include such a form and create a page with it and that’s all.

Let’s think again and see why we talk about web content saying this component, content, is such an important thing. What can we include in a page where we want people to contact us? Let’s put it this way:

  • Can’t you lead your readers toward contacting you about who you are?
  • Can’t you lead your readers toward asking about your products, services, etc?
  • Can’t you optimize your page for search engines so that people directly land at this page?

These are just a few questions to help you find some answers.

SEO Copywriting for Contact Pages

If your contact pages have textual content at them, like other pages of your site, you can optimize it for certain keywords. If there are people who are looking for a product owner like you, a service provider like you, etc, this will be the best page to be optimize to attract them. Have you ever think about it this way?

So, once well-optimized for such purposes, you can get site visitors land at this page. The more landing pages you have for DIFFERENT purposes at your site/blog, the more likely it will be to increase targeted traffic to your site.

What Do You Want to Add to Your Contact Pages?

Now, that we’ve talked about it a bit, it’s time for you to think and share what you would like to add to your contact page. Please go ahead and share your ideas. I’d like to hear from your innovative ideas here.
