What I’m going to explain to you will seem very basic, but they are fundamental and essential components that you can internalize as a habit for successful blogging. I’m sure you’ve heard them all, but I’m not so sure all of you observe them while writing blog posts.
These five steps are SEO, Copywriting, Social Media Bookmarking, Social Media Marketing and Comment Marketing. Of course, you know them all, but how are you going to combine them into a process? If you know them, do you follow them? This is the question!
Step 1: Conduct Keyword Research for Your Post
You’ve determined the topic you’d like to write about and you even have the content in your mind. You have an attractive title for your content too. Now you want to start writing your content. Which words could attract more people? What words are people using to address the topic you’re about to write on? Well, you better conduct some keyword research and find out which words best describe your content and bring you the type of audience you need in good numbers from search engines.
This step can be done using various softwares and resources like:
Step 2: Use Your SEO Copywriting Skills
Now you should combine your copywriting skills using those discovered keywords to create the content on the topic you have in your mind. In other words, you write your content and try to use the keywords you’ve selected at:
- title tag,
- alt tags,
- meta description,
- headings,
- opening paragraph,
- closing paragraph, and
- body text.
Remember, you’re not writing to win search engines’ heart. They don’t have hearts! You’re trying to impress human readers in a way that search engines applaud for you too! They should be convinced to push your new page up in the search engine result pages. Once you complete your writing, it’s time to publish before you go to the whole bunch of other sites that are more related to certain topics. If you’ve explored enough in social media, you definitely know them better than me for your work!
The point is that social media is getting crawled and indexed very frequently by search engines and it helps your new page gets crawled, linked and ranked well for your keywords! That’s why it’s important to use certain keywords when you write blog posts.
Step 4: Spread the Word In Social Media
There’s another breed of social media sites that are more helpful in creating a buzz and attracting readers to your new content. They are the ones that are very much heard of with communities built around certain topics or you can create such communities for the long-term benefits you’re trying to dig out for your online business. Some of such social media sites are:
These social media sites are communities or platforms where you can find friends, invite them or create interest groups who share the same passion or enthusiasm about what you write. You can share your opinion, news, etc written at your blog post with them by sending them the link and then create some discussion about the content. This brings more people to your post and makes them more interested in your blog.
Make sure your site can retain this traffic by inviting them subscribe to your feed or newsletter.
Step 5: Comment on Similar Blog Posts
The last tip on successful blogging is to be a reader too, not only a writer. Take this part seriously and often go to the similar blogs and post valuable comments on what they write at their blogs. One way of doing this is to search for the similar posts using the keywords explained at step 1 above. So, you can go to one of the following sites and search for your keywords to find the similar blog posts:
As your mind has recently been refreshed on that particular topic you’ve written about, you can easily connect to the content you read at those blog posts and comment. Don’t forget that sending comments and following them could hopefully end in friendships and finding leads and customers. You build your reputation as an expert, attract new enthusiasts to your blog and persuade them to become your subscribers to read more of your blog posts.
Now, here’s the question:
Do you really follow these steps each time you write a blog post?
If not, you better take it seriously and learn some other techniques by learning professional blogging from a professional blogger!
