How Do You Handle Copywriting Web Content for Your Site?

Either you have a website or a blog, you need to handle copywriting web content. The webpages of your site require to be informative enough for your readers and appealing enough for search engines to give you a higher search engine ranking.

The writing skill for the web is different from writing for traditional press. Even within the web, writing for different webpages of the same site is also different. Do you write your web content yourself? Does your employee perform the copywriting for your site? Do you outsource it?

Copywriting Web Content for Specialized & Non-Specialized Sites

Either you’re a professional providing services and products from your company website or you’re a passionate person writing about your favorite topic from your blog, you need to know how to handle copywriting web content for your site. You should use your keywords in creative ways at different pages of your site.You should use special techniques for writing at different pages of your site. To explain this a bit more, I need to bring an example:

You have a blog about badminton as you’re a professional badminton player and love to write about it. Your blog has got pages and categories titled:

  • badminton rackets for sale
  • badminton rackets review
  • badminton shoes for sale
  • badminton skills
  • badminton common injuries
  • badminton competition
  • about me
  • contact me

When it comes to your skills of badminton, it’ll be your field of expertise. So, you should be able to write about it. I don’t want to say that you cannot write it, but learning copywriting web content skills can boost your webpages’ visibility in search engines a lot. It can also help your readers enjoy your content without feeling bored. This is the most simple part of the blog that you can write.

Copywriting Your Contact Page

Do you put only a blank contact me page with a form in it? It won’t help your readers. There should be at least 250-300 words to encourage them to write to you. Sometimes, a contact page can become such a great landing page for your site that draws people from search engines to land in your site and drop you a few lines telling you what they want to be done for them. This isn’t going to happen with just a form in that page.

Copywriting Your Sales Pages

Do you know that your visitors who arrive in your sales pages should be persuaded to buy the way web shoppers are used to shop? I mean it’s different from what you experience in a department store or a sports store. You know badminton fans’ favorite brands and styles, but copywriting web content skills are required to know how to get them to take out their credit cards and place an order.

Don’t worry if you don’t know this. There are a whole range of courses and books online that can help you in this. Or you can just ask some professional to write such a sales copy for you so that you can achieve your goals. It’s much more economical than writing it yourself and wait for a long time before anybody decides to buy from you.

Copywriting Your About Page

Don’t be offended, but it’s true and I tell you why. Nobody knows about you better than yourself. There’s no doubt about this, but you need to be equipped with copywriting web content skills so that you know how to attract the web readers. It’s different from how you write it in your diary, in a local newspaper, in your biography book, etc. It’s also different from how you explain it to a person who asks you in an interview.

Web copywriting is different as reading habit is different on the web. If you know how to please web readers and search engines both, you can write this page yourself. If not, you can learn it or have somebody else write it for you. On a blog, people need to know more about your passion, life, career, hobbies, etc.

    It’s an interesting argument about the contact page being used for copy. Part of me thinks it should simply be a page to get details from clients after they’ve read your service; why give them another few hundred words of seo copy about why and how to contact you? But then there is an argument that it’s a page which is overlooked in terms of seo content and it could be a good resource. Open for debate I reckon
