More good reasons to give away free stuff:
(1) It positions YOU as the expert
(2) It demonstrates YOUR credibility
(3) As long as you dont "give away the farm" no matter how much free stuff you give away and how many tips you offer, most people will only apply a handful of your suggestions. They wont actually apply every piece of free information you give them...
(4) When they acknowledge that they need more of a direct helping hand - YOU will most likely be the one they hire.

Thanks for the interesting points you've mentioned. As a matter of fact, since long time ago, many sites had realized the need to interact with their readers. That's why they'd provided the possibility of writing feedbacks, etc. Participating in forums, as another example, were actually a different interactive platform that still goes on for other purposes. Undoubtedly, they've been the initial steps of what they call Web 2.0 these days.

My site hasn't joined this evolution since the beginning, but even this recent addition to my site has been a satisfactory step. One good reason is to learn about interesting points like the one you've mentioned. I appreciate your participation and would like to urge you to share your experience frequently with the audience of this blog.

All good points. I would just comment on the "Web Isn’t a One-Way Channel Anymore" hsub-head. There is a lot of mythology surrounding Web 2.0, that it is somehow a new and interactive form of Internet. Yet long before Web 2.0 I was participating in forums, creating content on various websites (to promote my book, for example), publishing my Daily Dose of Happiness ezine, filling in guestbook forms, etc. There is greater volume of interactivity today, but that is in large part a reflection of greater volume of everything. Web 2.0 is really just a slow evolution of what has been from the start a sharing of information.
